Welcome to the forum. I know you just got it but How do you rate the Warthog ? ( first impression )I found it to be a stout workhorse in my test. I also love the sheath it comes with, one of the nicest kydex sheaths I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

| My first impression was very good. The knife is well made without any production flaws which I like very much. I too like the sheath. It's well made and I especially like the fact that the sheath holds the knife very securely. I haven't used it yet except to slice one piece of paper to test its sharpness. I was impressed by its sharpness out of the box. In the next few days I intend to use it somewhat more. I like your knife tests and I look forward seeing more. |

It should serve you well. It has a fairly thin edge on it so it's not a bad cutter. The blade is thin but it is tough. Some people cut the guard off for better control of the knife but the sheath will no longer lock the knife in place. I'm glade you enjoy the tests. I never owned a Boker before. How well do they perform ? I like the looks of the handle on the Applegate.
Thanks |

Hello, I cut some thick (half of an inch) wavy cardboard today with the Boker Applegate this afternoon. Actually it's not as good as a stabber as I expected. When stabbed perpendicular to cardboard's wavy "structure" it didn't perforate very well, I had to put some force behind the thrust. However it surprised me it's not a bad slasher at all given the fact it's a double edged knife. I suspect it's because of blade geometry and perhaps of bead blasted finish the blade didn't perforate without an effort as one would expect when it comes to a dagger. About the handle, in my opinion it's too thick (too chunky), the handle material is relatively hard, non-slipery and durable. The knife itself is not perfectly made, the blade is slightly bent and the edge is not ground exactly in the middle of the blade (observing the blade's thickness) at one side of the blade. I hope this helps.

| Thanks for the info. It sounds like they have a few quality control issues. |
