Breeden Knives Made in America!

Bryan Breeden is a knife maker out of Nebraska. He spends much of his time in the woods cutting trees for a living and making knives when the weather is bad. While growing up Bryan spent his youth hunting, trapping and fishing. After talking with Bryan about knives and the outdoors I realized we shared a lot of the same views on what we use knives for. Being in the Marines Bryan was exposed to all aspects of survival and the importance of a knife. He is currently using 01 tool steel and orange G-10 scales. Welcome Breeden Knives and lets hope the weather stays bad at least in your neck of the woods!

PSKK II

Specs:

Steel-01

Blade Length-4"

Cutting Surface-3 7/8"

Overall-7 3/4"

RC-59-60

The PSKK II (Personal Survival Kit Knife) is very light making it perfect for backpacking and summit attempts. This is the bigger brother to the PSKK which has a 3" blade. If you ever wanted a thin lightweight full tang knife perfect for whittling and making trap notches then this is it. Combined with a chopper you can cover all the bases. Very handy size in between a neck knife and a small sheath knife. Imagine a Mora 510 meets CS Roach Belly and you got the PSKK II. This knife is a joy to use in the kitchen and in the woods.

This will be a work in progress as I am still doing tests and will be posting more pictures in the next day or two.

In hand.

Rounded G-10

Fuzz

Handles were nice and comfortable while whittling.

Now for the Baton test.

Tip first is a little hard on handles and the knife in general. The thin blade held up fine.

This pine had some hard knots. I usually will stop or pull the blade out once I hit a knot but this time I just kept hammering. No damge to the blade.

A good combo.

Easy to find orange.

Shaves thick green wood for notches.

Notch for tarp pegs and traps.

In the kitchen a thin knife slices through salame and cheese smoothly.

Bear you take great photos. That looks like a great little no BS knife. I think I could convince my wife that it would look good in the kitchen. Where can these be found?

Nice knife. And great photos also. Do you prefer it over your Mora 2000

Not yet but it being full tang is a big plus. It weighs 2.5 oz. but its hard to beat a good scandi grind for sharpness.

Thanks Bear. I'm the first to admit I'm a box head. Yes the number is posted above. I just won't mention pink. My wife's favourite colour is black. Yet she doesn't think a Tralimaster or Recon Scout make good kitchen knives. Although, she and her sister found a Benchmade Skirmish quite useful when they were trying to cut some prosciutto at a dinner party and her sisters kitchen knife just couldn't 'cut it'.

Funny you mention kitchen knife since the other knife (the larger) in the post was designed as a kitchen/outdoors knife. It is called the Pathfinder and it is the first knife that brian designed and made with his wife in mind. I will be doing a review on that soon but for now I say call Bryan have a chat and order one before his head gets too big.

Yes I learned that the hard way with a Mora 711 and #2. Think of this as a supercharged Mora.

Thats the way you always find out the hard way, Unless you explore the knife before hand. I always like to know what is under those hidden handles.
