I was planning to purchase a Lansky system, so I started digging. Then this little devil caught my attention.

It seems to outperform Sharpmaker and Lansky by landslide in conventional blade sharpening, but sucks when it comes to extreme curvatures and serrations.

Anyone having exp with this system? If you do, plz let me know, 'cause I'm dying to know... so to speak.

I have the Edge Pro Apex, and it is the best knife sharpening system I've owned or used. Very simple to set up and use, able to handle large or small knives, and pretty fast. I can put a SCAREY sharp edge on a knife with it like you've NEVER seen, especially when I take the edge all the way down to 6000 grit. We're talking better than scalpel sharp! It ain't cheap, but you get a professional grade system that will last a lifetime and will make your knives last longer too.

Never bring a knife to a gun fight!!!!!

LOL, thanks for your input. Already found reviews on it, especially on cutleryscience. The will is there, now the resources... XD

So far, the only shop here in the Netherland that has it in stock, asks €180-ish for the Apex 3, and my local armsdealer (10% discount on knife related stuff, hopefully this one too) is working on it, looking for importers mainly in Germany... The other option is to order it from the States, but the shipment and possible taxes might make it even more expensive...

Anyway, it's on my wishlist for Xmas: just another item I crave for, and my parents don't give me XD The Emerson CQC 12 got the top priority nonetheless.

One more thing... do you keep pressing the stone on the egde both when you're pushing it away and pulling it towards you? From what I've seen on the vid, he's kept pressing on the edge.

You can do it that way but, others just lift the stone on the return stroke.

hmmm.
cool.
It's alot like the rig the guy on the file knife making video made.
sometimes edges are a little thicker near the belly though, but I guess it would just thin out over time.

I really like free hand though.
but this seems pretty cool.

I too liked free hand and wanted to master it, but after countless hours of sharpening and the cost of good stones in a variety of grits without being able to get a hair poping edge, I decided to go a different rout.

The very first knife I sharpend with the EP was better than I've ever gotten free hand. When you way the cost of the EP against free hand, you end up saveing time, money, life of your knife, and agravation.

You can keep the exact angle on a knife every sharpenig and get scary sharp results every time.

I only use free hand because it's all I have at the moment. I do really want an edge pro.

I highly advise you to buy one. It is easily the best investment I made with knives.Best $200.00 I ever spent.
