I didn't mean to insinuate that Noss would try to take advantage of the Swamp Rat warranty, I didn't figure he would. I was just responding to the previous inquiry about whether or not it WOULD be covered, and the answer is...yes, it would. Swamp Rat doesn't ask questions about warranty repairs. They figure if you can break it, then they can replace it. They don't get many takers though, 'cause Rats just don't generally break. Anyway, sorry if I offended anyone, but I was just answering what I thought was a rhetorical question.
On the flexibility of differentially tempered steel, the Swamp Rat video I spoke of earlier that shows the Ratweiller chopping thorugh a cinder block also shows a flex test. They put a LONG cheater bar on the grip of the knife and chucked the blade into a vise. Then they bent it to around a 45-50% angle, and it sprung right back to shape without breaking or taking a set. I doubt you could ever put that much pressure on it without a cheater bar. Like I said, they're tough knives, and definitely my choice for the "stuck on a desert island and you only get one knife" pick.
Noss, I'll be looking forward to that test. You may even let Eric over at the swamp know your plans. Swamp Rat likes their image of making a nearly indestructible knife, and may even donate or discount a knife to you if you share the test results with him.

oh I know what you meant taxed2death, I wouldn't be offended if noss even did that, but some people are.
don't worry, I doubt you offended anyone on this forum.
I guess since you'r in the market of busse knives you would know this anyways.

Any progress on testing a Ratweiler Chopper? I got mine, and it's freakin' awesome!!!! I think I like it better than my Camp Tramp and my old-style Ratweiler. I'd love to see what it is capapble of...especially after viewing your tests of the Scrapper 6 and the Busse. My guess is that it will come pretty close to the Busse!

it would be a great test...
I wonder how hard they are to come buy at the moment?
and the can get kind of pricey... (although not that bad)i don't think they will be quite as tough as the scrapper 6 (especially the side tang impact part) but I think they will fare well... and perfrom good too, I here it is a great chopper for it's size.

I think it would be a heck of a test. I've put my Ratweiller and my Chopweiller through some stuff that has destroyed lesser knives, and I am amazed at the fact that not only are they still going, but they display almost no wear other than the coating. I would love to see just how much these knives would take before finally breaking. Certainly more than I would ever give them in normal hard-use.

oops... I did mean chopweiler, not the original ratweiler.
I here the chopweiler is MUCH more of a chopper.
