It is a solid knife blade is a little thicker than I like and it is so pretty I am scared to drop it. I was going to take it hunting last season, but I didn't want it to disappear from my luggage during a TSA inspection.

It does have have a very thick blade no doubt about it. It is a beautiful knife. It's one of the nicest looking blades I own. The steel
is difficult to sharpen. I bought mine about 15 years ago.

I don't know I bought it a long time ago and I don't remember. It is
one of AUS 6 or AUS 8 It's hard to sharpen I guessing it is AUS 6
the 8 is easier to sharpen. The finish is very polished also like a higher stainless steel with less carbon content.

Mine took to the ceramic quite well, the factory edge was sharp, but there were a few rough spots. I am happy with it.

Maybe I need to try it on a Ceramic stone. I use a DMT diamond. I have trouble sharping it. Is yours AUS 8 ? If your happy with it thats all that matters.

I have a SOG Pentagon that I know for sure is AUS 6 and I can't sharpen
it worth a damn either.

Aus 8 has a higher carbon content then AUS 6 making it easier to sharpen like carbon steel but it still has the Stainless steel benefits.
But you probably already know this about it.
