Rune Pedersen, Those Applegate Fairbairn daggers look mean, but I'm worried about different grips used in knife combat as well. The shape of the handle may interfere with quick transitions in grip.

MATTMANN: Do you think the handles on the A.F's to short ?

Anyways.... my sincerely best advice is to go for the Dobberman or Col Moschin. They are thick yet swift...and the Dobberman is so long that if you by any chance pry off the tip, you can grind a new and still have sufficient bladelength.

They say that the microstructure of cobalt steel is superior to iron steel and with Rc 58 they're not so likely to chip out.

I can't go to a gun show because I'm still a minor. Thats why I have to get peoples opinions on them before I buy them.

mattmann1990, you are probley not going to find a fighting knife that is good at everything. I would recommend getting a knife that is good at what you are good at. If you like slashing then get a knife that is designed for slashing, if you prefer thrusting then get a knife that is designed for thrusting.

I like the Gerber Mark II. I had one from 1972. It was a special order with canted blade. I can't believe I sold it. Another great fighting knife is the Randall Model 1 All Purpose Fighting Knife. Their Model 14 Attack is sturdier, but I like the balance of the Model 1. Don't forget the Bowie, though. Again the Randall made Bowies are my favorites. Especially the Arkansas Toothpick.
