I also doubt that a knife like that would stand up to much punishment, It would not have a full tang hence the hollow grip and I have found that stainless steel 440 is not as strong as some good old tool steel. I would not try to use it for splitting a good hit on the spine may break the blade like the SOG fusion.
macgregor: Welcome to the forum. The knife in the video is basically a cheap copy of the Buck Master no longer made. I read the comments on it FUNNY That knife is no k-Bar. I don't know where some of these You Tube commenter's come from.
I think the Knife is a Busse.. I have a friend that has the same knife in the video and it says Busse on it.
Here are some photos of my Buck Master. It was my first serious knife. I got it for Christmas when I was 14 years old. I added a rubber grip (a bike tire tube) I used it a a lot For a hollow handle knife it is very tough. I have never used it for Batoning and I would not hit it with a hammer or other solid object because of the saw. The blade is 3/8" thick so it should be able to take being hit on with wood.
those 184's were supposed to be pretty serious blades back then, I heard they cost alot also to bad it created so many 12 yr olds with knock offs have you ever used those silly grapling spikes for any thing
I can't remember the cost of it. I think they were around 200 or so. Maybe less. I played around with the spikes a lot when I was Young. They do come in handy for various things. I use to use the knife as a grapple hook I didn't weight much back then. They unscrew and can be stored in the pouch on the sheath. The knife is a lot of steel. It is heavy. When I was in North Carolina I used it to stab through ice a lot. This was one of the things it was advertised to do.
