I have one and I'm getting ready to test it. It's a nice looking knife the grip is nice on it. I don't like the current sheath it comes with. The serrations seen to work well. It seems to cut about the same as most of the hard use knives I have tested meaning just average. Thats about all feedback I have on it at the moment.
I don't actually have one of these. Can someone who owns one give me an opinion on its performance?
My seal 2000 was only ok...in the sence of performance I experienced that the tip broke off when opening a resisting ammo-box. Furthermoore I wasn't to happy about the edge retention, which I subjectivly found surpassed even by the cheaper Buck Nighthawk. I'm from arctic Norway and managed to break off the blade and handle subjecting the seal to prying and chopping. Finaly the checkered diamond handle aids very poorly in twisting motions due to its almost circular profile. I almost forgot; the epoxy powder coating makes this blade stand out even in moonlight.
Rune Pedersen, did you by any chance test corrosion resistance?
I experienced the seal 2000 to be impervious to corrosion on the blade where the epoxy powder coating was intact, and found the coating quite durable. In the armed forces of Norway, a fieldknife is often abused to break open light doors to save weight gearwise. After a couple of these endevours some of the coating comes off. Exposing the raw metal to the elements especially salt water and fatty acids from food makes the raw steel corrode in only 2 days time. If you purchase the seal 2000 and plan for it to support a prolonged mission, you should bring with you some toothpaste to rub off corrosion and some hand lotion to apply on the blade. The handlotion doubles as prevention against degeneration of hands and feet which makes a soldier. If you haven't fallen asleep, an important notice is: All injection molded handles even hytrel, prilon and zytel will be penetrated by saltwater etc given prolonged exposure.
