I think you should test the Cold Steel G.I. Tanto. It's a super cheapy at only $29.99 MSRP. I don't think CS has officially released it yet, but they say they will sometime in April.
I think you should test this one because CS is really making a bold statement claiming its a better deal than a Strider.
Everyone remembers how tough the Strider was, and testing this knife and comparing it will really prove a point.
I don't have anything against CS, in fact, I own some of their knives and enjoy them very much. Some of their designs are quite nice, but then again, some of them just like this one, are total rip-offs of other companies.

Anyway, I figured this would be a good test.

later,

MrSkillz

absolutely, I'm testing this knife. They are supposed to come out this
month. As soon as I can get my hammer on it I will test it. Should be very interesting if this knife can outlast the strider, the sh*t will hit the fan.

Can't wait bro. We've talked about this before a little bit, and I'm super excited to see your test and hear your opionon after having destroyed both knives!

A lot of people don't like Mick and Les - I could give a $hit personally, I just want to see how far a buck will take you performance wise. This sounds like it'll be one tough blade!

Any word on when you're looking at testing a Ranger or a Scrapyard? I'm real loyal to those guys lately - awesome products and price points. I'd also like to see you give a Busse a workout!

Diceman: There seems to be a war brewing between Cold Steel and Strider.I don't care either. I just obtain what is on the market and test it. I'll let Lynn and Mick knife it out in a back alley some where.

We know the Bushman is tough and we know the Strider BT is tough.
It's going to come down to economics 30 bucks VS 350 bucks.

I am on the list for a Scrapyard Dogfather and a Busse Battle mistress. As soon as I get them I will do the outdoor test like the RTAK 2 then perform the destruction tests on both.

After seeing your Ranger tests I will be testing one. Outdoors/destruction.

I have to get caught up with all my current planed tests first. I hope
I can get the Seal 2000 test done within the next 2 weeks.

This underwater test has been a real challenge but it will be different and a lot fun. A lot of divers are into knives as well as myself. The environment is completely differnt underwater. Your movement is limited so it's going to be interesting what one can do with a knife underwater and how it impacts the performance of the knife.

Stay tuned I have a lot coming up.

Thanks

I will buy several of these G.I. Tantos just because. With a price similar to the bushman, everyone should be able to perform a test on one.

I just ordered THREE of them from the Knife Center, and UPS confirmed shipment. Probably get them about Wed(5-14).
They were only 19.95 ea, so I'll keep one, and my 2 oldest grandsons will get the others...put them in a nice Spec Ops sheaths, and they like em'...
If this knife is even remotely decent, CS will sell trainloads of them..
So a 7" CS GI Tanto (20.00 street price) VS. a 7" Strider BN (street price 425.00). So the basic question, is the Strider 20X+ better than the CS ..... also why does the Strider cost 20X more. Let's call is 20x even, the Strider does come with a nicer sheath.
Oh, and I do have a Strider MTL-SS, which I puchase new for 350.00.
Take Care ...

I don't expect them to be weak. Cold steel has put out a bold statement
saying it can take all the abuse you can dish out. Made out of 1055 carbon with a spring temper. I feel it's going to take a good beating. On the other areas cutting and chopping I think it will perform the same Strider BT.

Anyway it's going to FUN !

Yeah even if they are half as good as a Stider BT they are still over ten times the value. I did the math.

I had my friend dig out a couple of cheap ($5 from cheaper than dirt) strider copies he had bought several years ago and they are worthless. I have been bending them like pipe cleaners. They look more like they are made out of aluminum than stainless steel. I hope the G.I. Tanto lives up to the hype, cuz I will buy a Blackhawk sheath to put the survivor in (depending on how it's brother does during the test)
